1 John 4:11-12 New International Version

11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

All it takes is practice to train yourself.  It is a skill we must acquire with the help of the Holy Spirit. Once we begin to look with new eyes, we can see God in those around us. God is love. John tells us in Verse 4:8, “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

We must never forget that we were all created in God’s image (Genesis 1:27, “God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”). That means everybody.  If I can learn to look for God in strangers, in those in distress, in those whose behavior is foreign to me, then I can slowly learn to love more in the way that God loves us. It is simple to care for those close to me. Their kindness and caring generates that response. It has been a learning experience to demonstrate love towards those others who have no connection to me or those who might otherwise elicit a negative reaction.  All are children of God who need his love, whether they know it or not. What if you and I are the only means at hand to convey that love?

I recommend that you start a training program.  The results are so rewarding!  Thank God for his love every day, throughout the day. The more you express your gratitude, the more you will see God’s love and see his hand at work. Then it will start to spill over into your day. In loving one another, we grow closer to becoming the men and women God created us to be…something to pray about.

Your sister in Christ,
