Genesis 1:1-4 New International Version
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.
Dark clouds can descend over anyone of us at any time. In an instant a diagnosis, a lay-off, a betrayal can blot out the sun. At some point in time, it is fairly certain that most people will find themselves plunged into darkness. We never know what may befall us in this broken old world.
God has the power to take you out of the darkness and bring you into the light. We were told in John 8:12, “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.'” God wants you to live in the light. He did it on The First Day. He did it when he sent his son. He can do it for you today…something to pray about.
