Isaiah 61:1 New International Version
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners
God’s love is there for everyone. You do not have to be rich to be loved by God. Those who are grieving and brokenhearted can take solace in God’s love. Those who are enslaved can be set free in the ultimate power of God’s love. Even though you are in prison, you do not have to suffer alone in the dark. God’s love is everywhere.
Did you know that you were chosen? Did you realize that as your knowledge and experience of Christ grow, so will your response naturally grow? Did you know that you need never worry about how, who, and where, because the Spirit of the Lord will be with you to guide and prompt you? The Lord has anointed you. That means you were selected by “divine election.” That sounds like an ominous task. Essentially, it really means that we must live like we mean what we say.
Not everyone has the tools to go into prison. Or to South America. But every single one of us professing to be Christian has the capacity to love. We have the skills to show mercy. We understand the need for encouragement. We can imagine how terrible it must be to feel all alone. All we need to do is to start putting these tools to use. God will show you the way. You may be surprised where he will lead. After all, he has chosen you…something to pray about.
