Proverbs 16:3 New International Version
3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and he will establish your plans.

Colossians 3:23-24
23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

I don’t know when this started to soak into my life, but I am here to testify that when I remember to whom I belong, things just go differently. That’s why you typically see me with a tiny cross on a very long chain. It is not a statement to the world, it is a reminder to a very recalcitrant me. Through the course of my day, as I look down, I see it there and recall the one who is really the Boss, the one for whom I am meant to be working. I am cautioned that my words count. Even the bad ones (not a score I’m proud of). I am nudged to choose kindness when I may be focused inward. I am prompted to show patience when weariness would do otherwise. I am reminded to reflect his love.

When I acknowledge my insignificance and the magnificence of Our Creator, I have to come to terms with my weakness and his incredible power. I trust him more and more every day. If I keep God in focus and his teachings in mind, my day just goes differently. It just does. If we can make a commitment every day to go about doing whatever we do by putting ourselves in God’s hands, he will help us step by step. We may never see the big picture. We don’t have the proper perspective. The plan is his. Let God establish the plan for us…something to pray about.
