Psalm 98:3-5 New International Version
“3 He has remembered his love and his faithfulness to Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. 4 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; 5 make music to the Lord with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing”

There are many kinds of talent that I believe are truly gifts from God. I wonder if it pleases God to see us making use of his gifts for the enjoyment and encouragement of others? We had such an uplifting worship service this week. I have to think it was as pleasing to him as it was to us. A group of musicians who play together strictly for the joy of it, shared their joy with us. It was a different kind of music than we enjoy every week, but we welcomed them and they blessed us. For so many of us, music plays an elemental role in our personal stories. Even those of us who have no gift for making it! This was definitely a joyful celebration of God’s gifts to us.

That spark of creativity lies within each one of us. I think of it as a little piece of God-energy. The power that brought all of Creation into existence touches every one of us. You may be able to bake an amazing pie crust to satisfy and nourish your friends. You may be able to sell snow cones in the Arctic and persuade folks to give church a try. You may be able to capture the beauty of God’s world around you with a camera or a pen. What talent has God given you? How can you use it to his glory? How can you put your gifts into action to please God?…something to pray about.
