Wednesday Word 3.18.2020
“To the seven churches in the province of Asia:
Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, 6 and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen. 7 “Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.” So shall it be! Amen. 8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
We serve a Mighty God. We were redeemed by the amazing King of Kings. From the beginning of all creation to the end and back again, he is The Infinite. The great I Am. We are in his hands. We are covered by his love. Whatever transpires in this world, we belong to a Mighty God.
Few of us can recall such times as these. This is a world-wide war with an invisible foe. We have certainly never been asked to undergo such draconian measures in my lifetime. No one likes it. It will change countless lives, some irreparably. Major milestones and well-deserved achievements may never come to fruition or be celebrated for millions of young people. Yes, this is a big deal. But the God who loves us is even bigger.
From Exodus 14:13-14, “Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” In Psalm 42:10, “Be still and know that I am God…”
Be still. We know to whom we belong…something to pray about.
