Romans 12:12 New International Version
12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
There is no way to get around it, these are trying times. Each of us has had to deal with the new reality in different ways. Some of us have had to remain in our normal routine in anything but normal circumstances, while others’ daily lives screeched to an abrupt halt. Some are facing financial crisis. Many are facing real physical peril every shift. No one is left untouched.
As followers of the Living God, this is our chance to step up. What kind of example are you setting for your children? Your neighbors? Your co-workers? We are all tired of it. We loathe disruption. Personally, I try to only whine or rant for no more than five minutes every day or so. The rest of the time is spent trying to support those around me, to remain positive and loving and hopeful. I am not a patient person by nature, but without it, I would be making myself even more miserable. We don’t have to like it. We just have to get through it. We don’t have too many choices these days. That privilege has been curtailed. The choice of how we handle it is always ours. As followers of the Living God, we have a unending resource to call upon. As Paul said in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances…” It is with that attitude we can face whatever comes next…something to pray about.
