Psalm 37:30-31 New International Version
30 The mouths of the righteous utter wisdom,
and their tongues speak what is just.
31 The law of their God is in their hearts;
their feet do not slip.

Never in the history of the world have we had the means to communicate so quickly and across so broad a spectrum as we do today. It boggles the mind to think that what was science fiction in my parents’ childhood is in my pocket today. We can turn on half a dozen different devices and hear from all over the world. So many voices with so much to say from so many different frames of reference. Out of the cacophony, what can we hear? What are we to believe? I find myself growing ever more cynical. It is imperative to filter and analyze everything. What motives and agendas lie behind the words? Sometimes it is very hard to tell.

I know that I must turn to the words of the righteous if I am going to make any sense out of the din. I’m talking about the Holy Word. I have to evaluate the world around me by what the Bible teaches me. I have to ask the Holy Spirit to help me to comprehend. It is my job to make sure that the law of our God is written in my heart so that I can’t get lost in the noise. In order to know what God is trying to tell me, I have to read his Word…something to pray about.
